Breaking Ground to Concrete Slabs Groundworks In Exeter University

D.Hall Plant Hire & Groundworks were subcontracted by Mercury Construction to undertake the groundworks for a new Cryostore at Exeter University.

Our works involved the following: breaking out of the existing concrete surface, removal of concrete waste from site, and excavation of trenches to the required depth. Steelwork supplied and fitted by Kenex engineering, D49 wrapping mesh to steelwork, 20mm thick compressible isolation joint to trench edge before filling with RC50XF Concrete.

We also carried out an additional concrete slab 4m x 3.5m, breaking out some of the toughest concrete I’ve come across in years! Removal of concrete waste from site, H16 dowel bars, 20mm thick compressible isolation joint to perimeter edge, 2 layers of A393 mesh followed by RC50XF concrete with a brushed finish.
