Groundworks Torpoint
Large-scale groundworks project in Torpoint featuring bulk excavation and site preparation for major development
Project Overview
D Hall Plant Hire & Groundworks completed foundation excavation and concrete installation for a residential property extension in Torpoint, Cornwall. This project involved groundworks for a 6m × 3.3m extension (approximately 20m²), completed following site survey with consultation from the architect and structural engineer.
We set out the excavation per the drawings and established a datum for the finish floor level to accommodate the floor slab structure. The work included removing 36 tons of material to a licensed tip, installing the floor slab composition of 150mm type 803 sub-base, 75mm insulation layer, and 150mm C35 concrete slab.
After building inspector approval, we poured C35 concrete foundations following the structural engineer's specifications, preparing the site for the bricklayer's subsequent work. Throughout the project, we protected the customer's garden with ply boards, demonstrating our commitment to minimizing disruption to the property. We used compact equipment including a 1.9-tonne mini digger and 3-tonne dumper, ideal for residential settings.
